Saskatchewan residents by and large will be celebrating Valentine’s Day today … if they have to … they guess.
In a poll on this holiday 71 per cent of Saskatchewan residents reported they plan to celebrate today.
Valentine’s Day, 65 per cent chose the “It’s OK I guess” option.
Another 30 per cent of the 803 respondents said they love Valentine’s Day and the final five have zero interest in celebrating, calling it a Hallmark holiday.
We also stick with the classics when it comes to gift giving. The highest percentage of survey respondents (35 per cent) said they plan to give cards followed closely by dinner out (34 per cent), chocolates (26 per cent) and flowers (19 per cent).
And for those who are buying gifts, many are spending a good chunk of change on Valentine’s with an average of $81 planned across the province. Thirty-five per cent expect to spend more than $75 although 36 per cent figure they’ll fork out $21-$50.
We’re also pretty good at making sure we think about the day before it arrives with 81 per cent saying they have never forgotten about it — or perhaps only 19 per cent were willing to admit forgetting.
