There is a bylaw in Regina that says that you cannot rent out rooms to someone that is not family if you, as the owner are living in the house.
When it comes to Regina's rooming-house issue, City Hall appears to be facing a double-edged sword.
On one hand, residents particularly in the south end say rooming houses - which offer renters a bedroom in a home - are disrupting their neighborhoods partly because of increased traffic and garbage levels.
On the other hand, at least one homeowner who rents out rooms in his house has come forward saying the rules governing rooming houses are too strict.
Now is a critical time to review those rules, said Mayor Michael Fougere.
